Total cost

Free software isn't free to run.

Self-hosting an open-source mediator costs nothing in license fees — it costs your team's time to run it. A managed relay trades that time for a subscription.

Self-host (OSS)

Deploy Credo-TS, ACA-Py, or the OpenWallet mediator yourself.

  • Software — free, open source
  • Infrastructure — you provision compute, TLS, storage, monitoring
  • Operations — your team patches, scales, and secures it
  • Chain-anchored routing — not available out of the box
  • Credential-gated delivery — build it yourself
  • Console — none; logs and CLI

Managed (Solidus Relay)

Point a mediator URL — the plane, patching, and console are ours.

  • Software — hosted, patched, and versioned for you
  • Infrastructure — included, no servers to provision
  • Operations — we run the mediator; you configure policies
  • Chain-anchored routing — built in (did:solidus resolution)
  • Credential-gated delivery — built in, policy editor in console
  • Console — included from the Free tier
FAQ

Pricing, straight answers.

What happens if I go over my daily message limit?

Free and Developer tiers pause new mediation delivery until the next day once you hit the daily limit — messages already in flight still queue for pickup within your retention window; nothing is dropped. Team and Enterprise limits are set per contract before you need to raise them.

How does message retention work?

Undelivered messages are held for your tier's retention window, then purged. Messages the recipient has already picked up are removed immediately — there is no message-body column in the console at any tier.

Can I migrate from a self-hosted mediator?

Yes. Solidus Relay speaks the same DIDComm v2 protocols — CoordinateMediation 2.0, Pickup Protocol 3.0, forward routing — as the OpenWallet Mediator Service, Credo-TS, and ACA-Py. Point your agent’s mediator URL at the relay and re-run mediate-request; no protocol changes on your side.

What counts as a message?

Every DIDComm envelope the relay forwards or holds for pickup — one forward in, one delivery out. Mediation-coordination messages like mediate-request and keylist-update don’t count against your limit.
